The ACCUPRO 12179057 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision metal removal in machining centers and CNC milling operations. It features a 0.250 inch mill diameter, a 1.250 inch length of cut, and a 3.000 inch overall length with a 0.250 inch shank diameter. The 4-flute spiral geometry runs a 40-degree helix angle, and the nACRo finish provides enhanced wear resistance and heat dissipation at elevated cutting speeds. Centercutting capability allows plunge entry, making this tool suitable for slotting, profiling, and pocket milling. Machinists and tool-and-die technicians use this end mill on a range of ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials.
This end mill is suited for light-to-moderate material removal in production and job-shop environments. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is the standard orientation for conventional vertical and horizontal CNC machining centers. Its micrograin carbide substrate supports tighter tolerances and longer tool life compared to standard carbide grades. The mill diameter tolerance of +0.000 / -0.002 inches and shank diameter tolerance of -0.0001 / -0.0004 inches make it appropriate for close-tolerance work where dimensional consistency is required across multiple setups.
Designed as a standard-shank solid carbide square end mill compatible with 1/4 inch collet chucks, end mill holders, and ER-style tool holders used in CNC machining centers and manual knee mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer guidelines for tool holding and runout inspection. Confirm spindle and collet bore are clean and free of chips before seating the shank. Do not exceed the shank insertion depth recommended by the tool holder manufacturer. Verify tool runout with a dial indicator before initiating a cutting cycle to protect both the tool and workpiece.
