The ACCUPRO 12178992 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metal-cutting environments. Built from micrograin carbide stock, it holds tight tolerances and resists wear in demanding applications. The tool features a 4-flute spiral configuration with a 40-degree helix angle and an nACRo coating that reduces friction and extends tool life in hardened steels and stainless alloys. At 0.75 inches in diameter with a 1.5-inch length of cut and 4-inch overall length, it fits standard toolholding setups without extended-reach adapters. Centercutting geometry allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece.
This end mill is suited for face milling, slotting, profiling, and ramping operations on ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The right-hand cut and right-hand spiral flute direction are standard for conventional CNC milling center setups. The regular-length profile makes it a practical choice for general-purpose machining work where rigidity and surface finish matter. Machinists in production shops and toolrooms typically reach for this geometry when running finish passes or medium-depth roughing cuts in steel or cast iron. The 0.75-inch shank diameter matches common ER and side-lock toolholder bores.
Designed as a general-purpose replacement or production end mill for CNC machining centers and manual mills equipped with 3/4-inch bore toolholders including ER collet chucks, side-lock holders, and shrink-fit systems.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in an e-stop or locked-out state before changing tooling. Seat the shank to the minimum insertion depth recommended by the toolholder manufacturer to maximize rigidity. Inspect the cutting edges and coating for chips or damage before each use, and confirm runout at the spindle before beginning a production run.
