The ACCUPRO 12178943 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in metal, composite, and hard material applications. It features a 3/16 inch cutting diameter with a 1 inch length of cut, a 4 inch overall length, and a 3/16 inch shank diameter. The three-flute, spiral geometry runs at a 40-degree helix angle with a right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction. The nACRo finish enhances wear resistance and lubricity at elevated cutting temperatures. Manufactured from micrograin carbide stock, this end mill holds tight diameter tolerances and is suited for finishing and light roughing passes where dimensional accuracy matters. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary installers and users.
This end mill fits residential and commercial machine shop environments as well as maintenance and repair operations running CNC machining centers, knee mills, or manual vertical mills. It is centercutting, allowing it to plunge directly into the workpiece without a pre-drilled pilot hole. Typical applications include slotting, profiling, and pocket milling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The 40-degree helix promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces in harder alloys. The 4 inch overall length gives adequate reach for moderate-depth features without sacrificing rigidity in the 3/16 inch diameter.
Designed as a standard 3/16 inch shank square end mill compatible with ER collet chucks, end mill holders, and similar toolholding systems that accept a 3/16 inch straight shank on CNC machining centers and manual mills.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down or in a safe toolchange state before inserting or removing the end mill. Use a properly sized collet or end mill holder and torque the retention mechanism to the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Inspect the cutting edges and shank for damage before each use; do not run a chipped or deflected end mill.
