The ACCUPRO 12178901 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling of small features in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. With a 1/32 inch (0.0312 inch) cutter diameter and a TiCN (titanium carbonitride) coating, this tool delivers wear resistance and thermal stability in demanding cutting applications. The three-flute, spiral-flute geometry with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation in tight slots and pockets. Centercutting capability allows direct plunging into the workpiece. This is a stub-length end mill with a 1/16 inch length of cut, suited for applications where rigidity and minimal deflection are critical. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary users of this tool class.
This end mill is intended for micro-milling operations where fine detail and tight tolerances are required. The 1/8 inch shank diameter fits standard collet systems on CNC machining centers, manual mills, and high-speed spindles. Stub-length geometry reduces tool overhang, improving rigidity when machining hardened steels, stainless, aluminum, and similar materials. It is commonly used in mold and die work, aerospace component machining, and precision part production where small-diameter cutter performance is essential.
Fits any standard 1/8 inch collet or toolholder on CNC machining centers, vertical mills, or high-speed spindle systems. Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard tooling selection for micro-milling applications requiring a 1/32 inch square end mill.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and locked out per shop safety procedures. Secure the 1/8 inch shank in a clean, properly sized collet and torque the collet nut to the toolholder manufacturer specification. At this cutter diameter, runout control is critical — inspect the collet and holder for wear or contamination before seating the tool. Handle micro-diameter carbide end mills with care to avoid chipping the cutting edges during setup.
