The ACCUPRO 12178895 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in metal cutting and machining applications. It features a 31/64 inch (0.4844 inch) cutting diameter, a 1 inch length of cut, and a 1/2 inch shank diameter with a 3 inch overall length. The three-flute geometry paired with a 40-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. An nACRo coating extends tool life in demanding materials by reducing heat buildup and wear at the cutting edge. This tool is center-cutting, allowing direct plunge entry, and runs right-hand cut with right-hand spiral fluting. It is suited for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills operated by machinists and toolroom professionals.
This end mill is appropriate for milling ferrous and non-ferrous metals, alloys, and hardened materials where a fine surface finish and tight dimensional tolerances are required. The micrograin solid carbide construction supports higher spindle speeds and feed rates compared to high-speed steel tooling. Typical applications include slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling in production and job-shop environments. The 31/64 inch diameter is well suited for features requiring near-half-inch cuts where a standard 1/2 inch tool would produce an oversized condition.
Designed as a standard-shank replacement or new-installation solid carbide square end mill for CNC machining centers, knee mills, and toolroom mills accepting a 1/2 inch collet or end mill holder.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into a clean, undamaged collet or end mill holder and torque the retention hardware to the toolholder specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear and reduces surface finish quality.
