The ACCUPRO 12178855 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in metalworking and machining applications. It features a 9/16 inch (0.5625 inch) mill diameter with a matching 9/16 inch shank diameter and a 2 inch length of cut, providing solid rigidity across the full cutting zone. The 6 inch overall length accommodates deeper setups without sacrificing stability. Built from micrograin solid carbide and coated with an nACRo finish, this end mill is suited for demanding cuts in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It is a centercutting, right-hand cut, right-hand flute tool intended for use by machinists and toolroom professionals.
This end mill is appropriate for general milling, profiling, slotting, and plunge operations in CNC machining centers and manual mills. The 40-degree helix angle and spiral flute geometry promote efficient chip evacuation, making it a practical choice for production work in steel, stainless, cast iron, and similar materials. The 2-flute configuration is well suited to slotting and work in softer metals where chip clearance is a priority. The extended 6 inch OAL makes it useful for setups requiring additional reach, such as deep pocket milling or work on tall workholding fixtures.
Designed as a standard shank square end mill for use in CNC machining centers, knee mills, and manual milling machines equipped with collet chucks or end mill holders accepting a 9/16 inch shank diameter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety protocols. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into a collet or end mill holder and torque the retention hardware per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production cut, and confirm that feeds, speeds, and depth of cut are appropriate for the workpiece material and machine capability.
