The ACCUPRO 12178802 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It features a 0.5-inch mill diameter, a 0.625-inch length of cut, and a 2.5-inch overall length in a stub-length configuration. The two-flute, right-hand spiral design incorporates a 40-degree helix angle and an nACRo finish, which supports improved chip evacuation and heat resistance at the cutting edge. Micrograin carbide construction provides the hardness and edge retention required for demanding cutting conditions. This end mill is centercutting, allowing it to plunge directly into workpieces. It is sized for use in standard 0.5-inch collets or toolholders and is suited to CNC machining centers and manual mills alike.
This end mill fits standard milling applications in job shops, production machining environments, and toolrooms. The stub-length geometry keeps the tool rigid, reducing deflection on tight-tolerance features. The 0.5-inch shank diameter is compatible with common ER and straight-bore collet systems. It is well suited for slotting, profiling, and plunging operations where a short, stiff tool is preferred over extended-reach configurations. Machinists working with aluminum, steel, stainless, and similar materials will find the nACRo coating and micrograin substrate appropriate for general-purpose and moderate-speed cutting programs.
Designed as a standard OEM-style solid carbide square end mill for use in 0.5-inch collet toolholding systems on CNC machining centers and conventional milling machines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool path program is verified before mounting. Secure the shank fully within the collet or toolholder to the recommended gauge-line depth, and inspect the cutting edges for chips or damage before use. Follow applicable shop safety procedures and machine guarding requirements when operating rotating cutting tools.
