The ACCUPRO 12178692 is a 7-flute solid carbide square end mill designed for high-efficiency milling in demanding metalworking applications. Built from micrograin carbide with an AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) coating, this tool delivers excellent wear resistance and heat tolerance when cutting hardened steels, stainless, and other difficult alloys. The 3/8 inch cutting diameter pairs with a 1-1/4 inch length of cut and a 3 inch overall length, making it well-suited for moderate-depth slotting, profiling, and finishing passes. A 37.5-degree helix angle promotes smooth chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces. Machinists and toolroom professionals running CNC machining centers or manual knee mills will find this end mill a reliable workhorse for precision metalcutting work.
This end mill is intended for use in ferrous and non-ferrous metalcutting operations where a high flute count is needed to improve surface finish and feed rates. The spiral flute geometry and centercutting capability allow it to plunge directly into the workpiece as well as execute side-milling, contouring, and finishing operations. The 3/8 inch shank diameter fits standard ER collet chucks, end mill holders, and Weldon-style tool holders found in most shop environments. It is appropriate for both production and job-shop settings where tight tolerances and consistent tool life are priorities.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide square end mill for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting a 3/8 inch round shank via collet chuck, shrink-fit, or end mill holder.
Tool installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer guidelines for tool holding and runout tolerance. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before mounting or removing any cutting tool. Confirm holder bore cleanliness and proper insertion depth to stay within the shank diameter tolerance of -0.0001 to -0.0004 inches. Do not exceed the tool manufacturer recommended cutting parameters for the specific workpiece material and machine spindle power rating.
