The ACCUPRO 12178684 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling operations in ferrous and hardened materials. It features a 1/2-inch diameter with a 0.060-inch corner radius and five flutes in a right-hand spiral configuration, delivering smooth chip evacuation and reduced chatter at the cutting edge. The AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) coating provides elevated heat resistance and surface hardness, making this tool well suited for high-speed dry machining and difficult-to-machine alloys. Micrograin carbide construction adds toughness and wear resistance. This end mill is centercutting, allowing it to plunge directly into the workpiece. Variable index flute spacing helps suppress harmonic vibration during aggressive passes.
This tool is intended for use on CNC machining centers and manual mills in production and job-shop environments. It is applied in operations involving profiling, slotting, and contouring where a corner radius is required to reduce stress concentrations and improve surface finish in the part. The 5/8-inch length of cut and 2-1/2-inch overall length make it appropriate for shallow-to-moderate depth applications in mold and die work, aerospace components, and general precision part machining. Installation and operation are typically handled by machinists or CNC programmers working with ferrous metals, stainless steels, and hardened materials.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide corner radius end mill suitable for use in standard 1/2-inch collets, end mill holders, and shrink-fit toolholders on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills.
This end mill is installed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician using a 1/2-inch collet or end mill holder with appropriate runout specifications. Ensure the spindle and toolholder are clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Confirm spindle speed and feed rate parameters are set per the material and operation type before engaging the cut. Do not exceed the rated length of cut for this tool geometry when programming depth of pass.
