The ACCUPRO 12178675 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling operations in metal fabrication and machining environments. It features a 5/8-inch cutting diameter, a 0.03-inch corner radius, and five right-hand spiral flutes with variable index geometry to reduce harmonic vibration during aggressive cuts. The AlTiN coating improves heat resistance and extends tool life when cutting hardened steels, stainless alloys, and other difficult materials at elevated feeds and speeds. This is a single-end, centercutting tool, meaning it can be used for plunge entry as well as conventional and climb milling passes. Machinists and CNC operators in job shops, tool rooms, and production environments are the primary users.
This end mill is suited for roughing and finishing applications in ferrous and non-ferrous materials where a controlled corner radius is required to reduce stress concentration in part features. Typical applications include profiling, slotting, and pocket milling on vertical machining centers and CNC mills. The 7/8-inch length of cut and 3-inch overall length make it practical for moderate-depth pockets and contoured surfaces where a longer reach is not required. The micrograin carbide substrate supports higher cutting speeds than standard carbide grades and holds a sharper edge longer in abrasive materials.
Designed as a direct-mount replacement or new-installation end mill for CNC vertical machining centers and manual mills accepting a 5/8-inch straight shank tool holder, collet, or end mill holder.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and the control in a safe state per shop lockout/tagout procedures. Ensure the shank is fully seated and clamped to the required holding length in the tool holder before engaging any cut. Verify runout at the tool tip with a dial indicator after clamping, as excessive runout will accelerate wear and reduce corner radius accuracy. Tool selection, speeds, and feeds should be confirmed against the workpiece material hardness and the machine spindle horsepower before committing to production cuts.
