The ACCUPRO 12178674 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling in demanding metalworking applications. Built from micrograin solid carbide and coated with AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride), it handles high-heat cutting environments where tool life and dimensional accuracy matter. The 0.03-inch corner radius reduces stress concentrations at part corners, extending tool and workpiece life. With 5 flutes and a 40-degree helix, it delivers efficient chip evacuation and a superior surface finish. Variable index flute spacing helps suppress chatter during aggressive cuts. This tool is installed and operated by machinists and tool-and-die professionals on CNC machining centers and manual mills.
This end mill is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys in both production shop and job shop environments. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry as well as conventional peripheral and slot milling. The single-end configuration with a 5/8-inch shank seats directly in standard ER or side-lock toolholders. Right-hand cutting and right-hand spiral flute direction are the standard orientation for the majority of vertical and horizontal CNC mill setups. Overall length of 3-1/2 inches provides reach while maintaining rigidity in typical workholding setups.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or toolroom addition for 5/8-inch shank toolholders used on CNC and manual milling machines requiring a corner radius end mill geometry.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully and evenly in the toolholder to the correct gauge-length projection before torquing the retention mechanism. Verify runout with a dial indicator after installation to confirm concentricity within acceptable tolerance for the application.
