The ACCUPRO 12178640 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling in demanding metalworking and machining applications. Measuring 0.25 inches in diameter with a 0.75-inch length of cut and a 2.5-inch overall length, this tool features five flutes and a 0.0100-inch corner radius that reduces stress concentrations at part edges. The 40-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. An AlTiN coating provides thermal resistance and wear protection, extending tool life in high-speed and dry-cutting operations. This end mill is single-end, center-cutting, and uses right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting direction. It is sized for a 0.25-inch shank and is manufactured from micrograin solid carbide for rigidity and dimensional stability.
This end mill is suited for profiling, slotting, and finishing operations on ferrous metals, hardened steels, stainless steel, and other difficult-to-machine materials. The corner radius geometry makes it appropriate for applications where sharp inside corners are not required and where improved tool strength and part surface finish are priorities. It is commonly used in job shops, tool rooms, and production machining environments on CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers. Machinists and CNC operators in precision manufacturing select this tool for finishing and semi-finishing passes where edge integrity is critical.
Designed as a standard 0.25-inch shank corner radius end mill compatible with 0.25-inch collets, ER collet chucks, and milling tool holders used on CNC machining centers and manual mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the machine spindle is fully powered down and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or tool holder to the recommended engagement depth and torque the collet nut according to the tool holder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator after tool installation before initiating a cutting program.
