The ACCUPRO 12178639 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling operations in ferrous and hard materials. It features a 3/16 inch diameter with a 0.01 inch corner radius that reduces stress concentrations at the cutting edge and produces consistent radii in machined pockets, slots, and profiles. The 5-flute geometry increases chip load capacity and surface finish quality compared to standard 4-flute tools. An AlTiN coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life in high-speed dry or near-dry cutting environments. This end mill is a single-end, center-cutting design with right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting orientation. It is sized for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills where close-tolerance finishing passes are required.
This end mill is suited for production and job-shop environments running ferrous alloys, stainless steel, titanium, and hardened steels where heat resistance and edge retention are critical. The AlTiN coating performs best in dry or minimal-lubrication cutting strategies. The 3/8 inch length of cut and 2 inch overall length make it appropriate for shallow-to-mid-depth pocketing and profiling in tight workpiece geometries. A 3/16 inch shank fits standard collet chucks and end mill holders in that bore size. The variable index feature helps reduce harmonic vibration during aggressive cuts, making it well suited for high-feed or high-speed machining strategies in automated setups.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard selection for CNC machining centers and manual mills using 3/16 inch bore collet chucks or end mill holders. Confirm holder bore size and collet series before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully de-energized and locked out before inserting or removing the tool from the holder. Seat the shank to the recommended engagement depth in the collet or holder and torque the drawbar or collet nut per the holder manufacturer specifications. Inspect the cutting edges and coating for chips or damage before each use.
