The ACCUPRO 12177585 is a tapered ball end mill designed for precision milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built from micrograin solid carbide, it delivers the rigidity and edge retention required for profiling, slotting, and contouring in die, mold, and tooling applications. The ball end geometry produces a 3/64 inch nose radius, making it well suited for 3D surface finishing and tight-radius cavity work. With a 1.5 degree taper per side, the tool provides excellent clearance in deep-pocket and angled-wall machining. Three right-hand spiral flutes with a 30-degree helix angle promote chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. The uncoated finish is appropriate for use with cutting fluids or in lower-heat applications.
This end mill fits machining centers, CNC mills, and manual knee mills equipped with a collet or toolholder accepting a 3/16 inch shank. It is commonly used in tool and die shops, mold making facilities, and precision job shops for finishing passes on hardened or pre-hardened steel, aluminum, and similar workpiece materials. The 1-1/4 inch length of cut and 3 inch overall length allow reach into moderate-depth pockets without excessive overhang. Center-cutting capability permits plunge entry directly into the workpiece.
Designed for use in standard collet-style toolholders and end mill holders accepting a 3/16 inch round shank diameter on CNC and manual milling machines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the control is in an e-stop or tool-change state before inserting or removing the tool. Seat the shank fully into the collet or holder to the recommended minimum engagement depth and torque the retention hardware per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or damage before each use, as carbide tooling is brittle and can fracture if mishandled.
