The ACCUPRO 12177461 is a solid carbide tapered end mill designed for precision milling operations where a controlled taper profile and accurate small-diameter cutting are required. It features a 1/4 inch small end diameter, a 1-degree taper angle per side, and a 1-1/4 inch length of cut. The three-flute, right-hand spiral geometry combined with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. Manufactured from micrograin solid carbide, this tool delivers the rigidity and wear resistance needed for demanding materials. The uncoated finish makes it well suited for applications where coating buildup could affect dimensional accuracy. CNC machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary users of this tool.
This tapered end mill is used in mold making, die work, and general CNC machining where tapered walls or draft angles must be cut into a workpiece. The 5/16 inch shank diameter fits standard end mill holders and collet chucks. With a 3 inch overall length and 1-1/4 inch length of cut, it reaches into moderate-depth cavities while maintaining tool stability. It is centercutting, allowing direct plunge entry into the workpiece without pre-drilling. Applications include tapered slot milling, core and cavity work, and angled wall finishing in ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for standard 5/16 inch shank end mill holders and collet systems used in CNC machining centers and manual mills requiring a 1-degree-per-side tapered end mill profile.
Installation should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom professional. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or holder to the recommended engagement depth before torquing the retention hardware. Verify runout with a dial indicator after mounting to confirm concentricity before beginning a cut.
