The ACCUPRO 12177297 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling of complex contoured surfaces, 3D profiles, and detailed finish passes in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built from micrograin carbide, this single-end tool offers a 0.0591 inch (1.50 mm) cutting diameter with a matching 0.0591 inch (1.50 mm) length of cut and a 30-degree helix angle. The extended reach configuration, featuring a 1.45 mm neck diameter and 20 mm reach length, allows access to deep pockets and recessed features that standard length tools cannot reach. Machinists and tooling specialists in precision machining, mold making, and die work are the primary installers and operators.
This end mill is suited for fine-detail milling operations in job shops, toolrooms, and production environments running CNC vertical machining centers and high-speed milling machines. The small 0.0591 inch diameter and extended neck make it particularly effective for engraving, micro-milling, and finish contouring in tight geometries. The 6 mm shank diameter provides rigid tool holding in standard collet chucks and shrink-fit holders sized for 6 mm shanks. It is delivered uncoated and ready for use in dry or light-lubrication cutting strategies on aluminum, brass, mild steel, and similar materials.
Designed as a standard 6 mm shank ball end mill for use in CNC machining centers equipped with collet chucks, shrink-fit holders, or hydraulic toolholders accepting 6 mm round shanks.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and lock out the spindle before loading or removing the tool from the holder. Ensure the shank is fully seated to the recommended gauge line in the collet or holder and torque the collet nut per the toolholder manufacturer specification. At small diameters, runout control is critical — verify total indicator runout before beginning a production cut to avoid premature tool breakage.
