The ACCUPRO 12177201 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in tight-tolerance machining applications. Built from micrograin carbide, this tool offers a 0.0787 inch (2 mm) cutting diameter with a 0.1969 inch (5 mm) length of cut and a 0.2362 inch (6 mm) shank diameter. The four-flute, spiral geometry with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. The bright, uncoated finish is suited for use in a range of workpiece materials. Centercutting capability allows the tool to plunge directly into the material, adding flexibility to the machining operation. This end mill is classified as a long-reach type, with a 20 mm reach length, making it useful in applications where tool extension beyond standard proportions is required.
This end mill is well suited for small-feature milling work including slots, pockets, and profile cuts in precision components. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is standard for conventional CNC and manual mill setups. Its extended reach and small diameter make it particularly applicable to die and mold work, aerospace components, and small mechanical parts where access into confined areas is needed. A licensed machinist or toolroom technician typically selects and installs this tool in CNC machining centers or manual knee mills.
Designed as a standard shank solid carbide square end mill compatible with collet-style toolholders accepting a 0.2362 inch (6 mm) shank diameter, as commonly found on CNC machining centers and manual mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following standard toolholding procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully powered down and locked out before changing tooling. The shank must be fully seated and secured in the collet or end mill holder to the manufacturer-specified clamping depth to prevent pullout during cutting. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before engaging the workpiece, especially given the small diameter of this tool.
