The ACCUPRO 12177185 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling operations in metal, composites, and other hard materials. With a 0.1875 inch cutting diameter and a 2-flute geometry, this tool delivers efficient chip evacuation and clean surface finishes in profiling, contouring, and slotting applications. The 40-degree right-hand helix promotes smooth cutting action and reduced chatter. At 3.0 inches overall length with a 2-inch reach, it is classified as a long-reach end mill, giving machinists access to deeper features without sacrificing rigidity. Machinists and CNC operators in job shops and production environments install this type of tooling on vertical and horizontal machining centers.
This ball end mill is suited for 3D contouring, cavity milling, and finishing passes on molds, dies, and complex workpiece geometries. The single-end configuration and 0.375 inch length of cut make it appropriate for light-to-moderate depth-of-cut passes in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The micrograin carbide substrate provides wear resistance for consistent performance across production runs. The uncoated finish is compatible with a broad range of cutting fluids and is a practical choice when regrinding is anticipated.
Designed as a standard single-end ball nose end mill with a 3/16 inch shank diameter, compatible with ER collet chucks and end mill holders sized for 0.1875 inch shank tooling on CNC machining centers and manual mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or holder to the recommended grip length and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, as excessive runout will accelerate edge wear on small-diameter carbide tooling.
