The ACCUPRO 12177182 is a single-end ball end mill designed for precision milling of contoured surfaces, 3D profiles, and complex geometries in ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Built from micrograin solid carbide, it delivers hardness and edge retention well beyond high-speed steel. The 0.625 inch cutting diameter pairs with a 1.25 inch length of cut and a 40-degree right-hand helix, providing aggressive chip evacuation and reduced heat buildup at the cutting zone. An AlTiN coating adds oxidation resistance and thermal hardness, extending tool life in dry or semi-dry cutting conditions. This mill is suited for CNC machining centers and vertical mills running high-feed programs on hardened materials.
This end mill is intended for use on CNC machining centers in job shops, tool-and-die operations, and production environments where tight tolerances and fine surface finishes are required. The 4-flute spiral flute design increases productivity on finishing passes and light semi-finish cuts. The extended reach configuration, with a 4.5 inch reach length and 6 inch overall length, allows access to deep pockets and tall workpiece features without interference from the spindle nose or holder body. Right-hand cutting direction is compatible with standard CNC spindle rotation.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and vertical mills accepting a 0.625 inch shank diameter via standard end mill holders, collet chucks, or shrink-fit toolholders.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in an e-stop or lockout state before loading or removing tooling. Seat the shank to the full recommended gauge-line depth in the holder and torque the retention screw or collet nut per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout at the cutting tip with a dial indicator before beginning a production run, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear and degrades surface finish.
