The ACCUPRO 12177158 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling of metals and engineered materials. Built from micrograin carbide, it delivers consistent edge integrity at higher speeds and feeds than high-speed steel alternatives. The 40-degree spiral helix promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces. At 0.3125 inches in diameter with a 0.625-inch length of cut, this is a single-end, uncoated tool with a right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation. It is centercutting, which allows plunge entry without a pre-drilled pilot hole. Licensed machinists, toolroom operators, and CNC programmers will recognize this as a straightforward long-reach finishing and slotting tool.
The 12177158 is suited for precision slot milling, profiling, and pocketing operations on CNC machining centers and manual mills. The long overall length of 4 inches and an extended reach of 2-5/8 inches make it appropriate for reaching into deep cavities or past fixtures where a standard-length end mill cannot clear. The uncoated micrograin carbide construction works well in applications where post-processing or re-coating is part of the shop workflow, or where coating compatibility with the workpiece material is a concern.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide square end mill for use in standard 5/16-inch collets or end mill holders on CNC machining centers, manual knee mills, and toolroom machines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician familiar with proper end mill holding practices. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before inserting or removing tooling. Use a properly sized collet or end mill holder that matches the 0.3125-inch shank diameter and torque the retention mechanism to the machine manufacturer's specification. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or wear before each use; carbide end mills are brittle and should not be dropped or used with excessive runout in the holder.
