The ABBOTT WORKHOLDING PRODUCTS KTT8A2 is a soft lathe chuck jaw designed for precision turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. Machined from 6061-T6 aluminum, this serrated jaw accepts re-boring to match a specific part diameter, allowing the operator to achieve tight concentricity on finished or delicate workpieces. The serrated interface provides positive engagement with compatible chuck bodies, resisting radial slip under cutting loads. At 4 inches overall height and 4 inches overall length, with a 1.5-inch width, this jaw fits lathe chucks up to 8 inches in diameter and is sold as a set of 3 jaws.
This jaw is suited for use in machine shops, production turning cells, and maintenance facilities where workholding accuracy is critical. Soft jaws of this type are commonly installed on 3-jaw scroll chucks when holding pre-machined parts, thin-walled tubing, or irregular profiles that standard hard jaws would damage. The aluminum construction keeps rotating mass low, which benefits high-speed turning applications. A licensed machinist or CNC lathe operator typically performs jaw installation and boring.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement soft jaw for 3-jaw scroll chucks with a maximum chuck diameter of 8 inches and a serrated jaw interface accepting a 0.4724-inch fastener size.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or lathe operator. Power down and lock out the lathe spindle before removing or installing chuck jaws. Secure all mounting fasteners evenly and verify jaw seating against the master jaw serrations before boring. After boring to the required grip diameter, confirm runout with a dial indicator before committing to production cuts.
