The ABBOTT WORKHOLDING PRODUCTS KTT1512P is a soft lathe chuck jaw set with a serrated jaw interface, machined from 6061 aluminum. The set consists of three round jaws designed to be bored in-place on a lathe chuck, allowing a custom fit to a specific workpiece diameter. At 15 inches overall width and 3 inches overall height, these jaws are sized for 12-inch chuck applications. The serrated interface provides positive radial location and repeatable jaw positioning when jaws are swapped. Aluminum construction keeps jaw weight low, reducing chuck imbalance at elevated spindle speeds. Machinists and tool room technicians install these as a precision workholding solution for turning operations on manual and CNC lathes.
These soft jaws are intended for use on 12-inch diameter lathe chucks. The serrated jaw interface is a standard configuration found on many 3-jaw and specialty chucks used in production turning, job shop operations, and tool room environments. The 0.5512-inch fastener size and 1.1811-inch center-to-center mount hole spacing must be verified against the host chuck before ordering. The 0.7090-inch slot width and 0.7087-inch groove width are consistent with common serrated master jaw profiles. This jaw set is suitable for both light-duty finishing cuts and moderate material-removal operations on aluminum, steel, and similar machinable materials.
Designed for use on 12-inch diameter lathe chucks with a serrated master jaw interface, a slot width of 0.7090 inches, a groove width of 0.7087 inches, a mount hole center distance of 1.1811 inches, and a 0.5512-inch fastener size. Verify all interface dimensions against the host chuck prior to installation.
Soft jaw installation and boring should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with lathe chuck workholding. Before removing or installing chuck jaws, power down the lathe and confirm the spindle is fully stopped. Torque all jaw fasteners evenly and to the chuck manufacturer's specification. After installation, jaws must be bored to final diameter under light pre-load to ensure concentricity before use in production.
