The ABBOTT WORKHOLDING PRODUCTS KTT12A is a serrated soft lathe chuck jaw machined from 6061-T6 aluminum for use on manual and CNC lathe chucks. Soft jaws are finish-machined by the end user to grip a specific workpiece diameter, making them a staple for precision turning operations where concentricity and part protection matter. This jaw measures 5.5 inches overall length, 2 inches overall width, and 2 inches overall height. The serrated interface engages the chuck body securely, and the square jaw shape suits a wide range of turning and boring applications. Sold as a set of 3 jaws.
This jaw set is intended for use on lathe chucks with a maximum compatible chuck diameter of 12 inches. The serrated interface is a common standard used across many three-jaw scroll chuck platforms in production turning, tool room, and maintenance machining environments. Machinists and CNC lathe operators use soft jaws when standard hardened jaws would damage a finished surface or when a custom bore profile is needed to hold an irregular or close-tolerance workpiece. The 6061-T6 aluminum construction keeps rotational mass low and allows fast, accurate re-boring at the machine.
Designed for use on lathe chucks with a maximum compatible chuck diameter of 12 inches and a serrated jaw interface. Groove width is 0.7087 inches (18 mm). Verify chuck jaw interface type and mounting hole spacing before installation.
Soft jaw installation and boring should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC lathe operator. Power down and lock out the lathe before mounting or removing chuck jaws. Bore the jaws to final grip diameter while lightly clamped under preload to eliminate jaw-seating error. Follow the machine manufacturer torque guidance for chuck jaw fasteners and confirm all jaw bolts are fully seated before spindle rotation.
