The ABBOTT WORKHOLDING PRODUCTS KTT10A4 is a square-profile soft lathe chuck jaw with a serrated interface, machined from 6061-T6 aluminum. Soft jaws are designed to be bored or turned to match a specific workpiece, allowing precise, repeatable grip without marring finished surfaces. This set of three jaws fits chucks up to 10 inches in diameter and mounts via serrated serration interface for positive location. At 4 inches overall height and 4.5 inches overall length, the jaws provide substantial gripping depth for a wide range of turned parts. The 5.3-pound set weight reflects the full three-jaw assembly.
These jaws are suited for use in production turning and repair-shop environments where a custom-bored jaw is required to hold a specific diameter or contour. The serrated interface locks the jaw into a compatible chuck body, resisting radial shift under cutting loads. Machinists and tool-room operators install these when standard hard jaws cannot provide the concentricity or surface protection a workpiece demands. The 6061-T6 aluminum alloy keeps rotating mass low while still offering sufficient material stock for boring to final size.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or upgrade soft jaw set for serrated-interface lathe chucks with a maximum compatible chuck diameter of 10 inches and a mount hole center spacing of 1.1811 inches.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or tool-room technician. Before installing or removing chuck jaws, the lathe must be fully powered down and the spindle locked per machine tool safety procedures. Jaws should be torqued to the chuck manufacturer's specified fastener value using the correct hex key or socket for the 0.4724-inch fastener size. After installation, bore the soft jaws in-place on the chuck to achieve final diameter and concentricity before use.
