The ABBOTT WORKHOLDING PRODUCTS KTT6A2 is a soft lathe chuck jaw designed for use in manual and CNC lathe setups where custom gripping profiles are required. Machined from 6061-T6 aluminum, this jaw features a serrated interface for positive engagement with the chuck body. The square jaw shape measures 1.25 inches wide, 3 inches tall, and 3 inches in overall length, making it suitable for medium-diameter workholding applications. Licensed machinists and lathe operators install these jaws when gripping irregular, finished, or delicate workpieces that require a bore-to-fit contact surface rather than a hardened jaw.
This jaw is designed for three-jaw chuck configurations and is compatible with chucks up to 6 inches in diameter. It is commonly used in production turning, toolroom work, and job-shop environments where operators need to bore the jaw to a specific diameter to protect finished part surfaces or hold non-standard stock. The serrated base interface ensures repeatable repositioning on compatible serrated-master chuck bodies.
Designed as a replacement or additional soft jaw for serrated-master lathe chucks with a maximum compatible chuck diameter of 6 inches, a mount hole center distance of 0.7874 inches, a fastener size of 0.3937 inches, and a groove width of 0.4724 inches. Sold as a set of 3 jaws.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or lathe operator. Disengage and lock out the lathe before removing or installing chuck jaws. Ensure the serrated interface is fully seated and fasteners are properly torqued per the chuck manufacturer's specifications before operating the spindle. Soft jaws should be bored in-place on the chuck after installation to achieve true concentricity for the intended workpiece diameter.
