The ABB tg3223r is a 100-amp, 2-pole fusible general duty safety switch rated for 240 volts AC. It carries a NEMA 3R enclosure rating, meaning it is designed for outdoor installation and protected against rain, sleet, and ice formation. The switch is 3-wire and accepts copper or aluminum conductors in the 10 AWG to 1/0 AWG range. Licensed electricians install this type of disconnect as a service entrance, feeder, or branch-circuit isolating device where a fused, lockable shutoff point is required by the NEC. The general duty rating makes it well suited for residential and light commercial service.
The tg3223r fits standard residential and light commercial electrical distribution applications where an outdoor-rated fusible disconnect is required. Typical installations include air conditioning equipment disconnects, meter-base feeders, and sub-panel service disconnects mounted on exterior walls or utility pads. The NEMA 3R rainproof enclosure is accepted for exposed outdoor locations under most local electrical codes. At 240 volts AC with standard NEC fusing, the switch is rated for 7.5 hp single-phase loads. With time-delay fusing, the motor rating increases to 15 hp single-phase. At 250 volts DC the switch is rated for 20 hp.
Designed as an OEM-style general duty fusible safety switch for residential and light commercial disconnect applications requiring a NEMA 3R outdoor-rated enclosure at 240 volts AC.
Installation must be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and all applicable local codes. De-energize the upstream feeder and verify absence of voltage with a calibrated meter before wiring the switch. Ensure the enclosure is mounted plumb and sealed at conduit entries to maintain the NEMA 3R rating. Do not exceed the published conductor range or load ratings marked on the device.
