The ABB EYS4-G is a female conduit sealing fitting designed for use in hazardous location electrical installations. Sealing fittings of this type are used to prevent the passage of gases, vapors, and flames between conduit sections, a requirement in classified areas where ignitable atmospheres may be present. This fitting is intended for installation by licensed electricians working in industrial, commercial, or petrochemical environments where explosion-proof conduit systems are required. The female configuration allows it to mate with a threaded conduit hub or enclosure entry point.
This fitting is suited for hazardous location conduit systems in environments such as refineries, chemical plants, grain handling facilities, wastewater treatment plants, and other locations requiring Division 1 or Division 2 classified area wiring methods. The sealing fitting is installed as part of a rigid or IMC conduit system and is filled with an appropriate sealing compound after installation to complete the vapor and flame barrier.
Designed as an OEM-style sealing fitting for use in hazardous location rigid or IMC conduit systems requiring a female sealing fitting at enclosure or conduit junction points.
Installation of hazardous location sealing fittings must be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC), specifically Article 501 for Class I locations and Article 502 for Class II locations. De-energize all circuits before installing or disturbing any conduit sealing fitting in a classified area. After installing the fitting body, fill the sealing chamber with a listed sealing compound per the manufacturer instructions before energizing the system. Do not install sealing compound until all conductors are in place and dressed through the fitting.
