The ABB EYS3-B is a female conduit sealing fitting designed for use in hazardous location electrical installations. Conduit sealing fittings are required by the National Electrical Code to prevent the passage of gases, vapors, and flames between sections of a conduit system, particularly at enclosure entries and boundary points between classified and unclassified areas. This fitting accepts a sealing compound poured and cured in the field by a licensed electrician. It is a core component in explosion-proof and dust-ignition-proof conduit systems where code-compliant sealing is mandatory.
The EYS3-B is suited for use in Class I hazardous locations such as those found in industrial facilities, petrochemical plants, refineries, wastewater treatment plants, and similar environments where flammable gases or vapors may be present. The female configuration allows direct threaded connection to standard conduit or enclosure hubs. It is installed by licensed electricians working under NEC Article 501 requirements for Class I, Division 1 and Division 2 locations.
Designed as an OEM-style sealing fitting for use in hazardous location rigid metallic conduit systems requiring female-entry sealing fittings per NEC Article 501 requirements.
Installation must be performed by a qualified licensed electrician in accordance with NEC Article 501 and all applicable local codes. De-energize and lock out the circuit before beginning any conduit work. The sealing compound must be mixed and poured per the compound manufacturer instructions and allowed to fully cure before energizing the system. Do not install the fitting in a way that traps moisture or prevents proper compound fill.
