The 3M 7100313197 Cubitrona 3 Cut and Grind Wheel is a dual-purpose abrasive wheel built for both cutting and grinding on stainless steel and mild steel. At 9 inches in diameter with a 1/8-inch thickness and 36+ grit rating, it uses 3M Re-Engineered Precision Shaped Ceramic Grain — a proprietary molecular bonding technology that forms sharp, angular structures. These structures continuously fracture to expose fresh cutting edges, allowing the wheel to run cooler, wear evenly, and cut faster with less applied pressure. Licensed HVAC, mechanical, and fabrication tradespeople who regularly work with steel substrates will find this wheel suited to high-demand production and service environments.
This wheel is designed for use on both stainless steel and mild steel substrates. Its rigid, reinforced, resin-bonded construction makes it appropriate for cutting, grinding, and gouging operations in a single wheel format. It is well suited to metal fabrication shops, mechanical contractors, and field service technicians who need a single abrasive tool capable of multiple tasks without swapping wheels. The reformulated wheel composition delivers improved balance and smoother action compared to the prior Cubitrona II generation.
Designed for use on stainless steel and mild steel substrates with standard 9-inch angle grinders and cut-off tools that accept depressed-center wheels of this diameter and arbor configuration.
Installation and wheel changes must be performed by qualified personnel following ANSI B7.1 safe use standards for abrasive wheels. Always power down and disconnect the grinder from its power source before mounting or removing a wheel. Inspect the wheel for cracks or damage before each use and never exceed the maximum RPM rating marked on the wheel. Appropriate face shield, gloves, and hearing protection are required during operation.
