The 3M 7100200271 is a 3-inch coated fibre disc engineered for ultra-rapid stock removal on hard-to-grind metals. Built with 3M Precision Shaped Grain ceramic mineral, this disc delivers higher cut rates, a cooler grinding action, and longer service life compared to conventional fibre discs. A built-in grinding aid actively reduces heat buildup, making it well suited for heat-sensitive alloys. A stiff fibre backing and strong resin bond resist tearing under heavy load. Licensed HVAC, maintenance, and fabrication tradespeople working with stainless steel and high nickel alloys will find this disc handles demanding applications without frequent disc changes.
This disc is designed for weld removal, blending, bevel grinding, edge chamfering, and finish refinement on stainless steel and high nickel alloys. At 60 grit, it sits in the medium-coarse range, offering an aggressive cut while leaving a surface ready for subsequent finishing steps. It is sold individually and is compatible with 3M disc pad face plates and hubs, which are sold separately. Typical use cases include fabrication shops, structural welding operations, and field maintenance work on process piping or equipment.
Compatible with 3M disc pad face plates and hubs sold separately. Designed for use on stainless steel and high nickel alloys in weld grinding, blending, and finish refinement applications.
Mount this disc on a compatible disc pad and hub assembly rated for the intended RPM before use. Verify the grinder guard is in place and the tool is powered down and unplugged before changing discs. Inspect the disc for cracks or damage before each use and discard any disc that shows signs of delamination or tearing. Operators should wear appropriate PPE including eye protection and gloves when performing grinding operations.
