The 3M 7100193167 is a Scotch-Brite surface conditioning belt designed for demanding detail and finishing work on metal surfaces. Built on a reinforced scrim backing with a nonwoven open-web construction, the belt measures 18 inches in length and 1/2 inch in width. Aluminum oxide abrasive grain is integrated throughout the nonwoven material, enabling consistent cut and surface conditioning across the full life of the belt. The open-web structure reduces loading and heat buildup, allowing extended run time without sacrificing finish quality. Metalworkers, fabricators, and finishing technicians rely on this belt for blending, deburring, and achieving repeatable surface profiles.
This belt is suited for a wide range of metal finishing tasks in both production and job-shop environments. Common applications include blending weld seams, deburring sharp edges, contour finishing on complex-shaped parts, flat finishing, grain setting, and attaining straight-line brushed finishes on stainless steel and other metals. The belt conforms well to irregular profiles, making it effective in robotic processing setups as well as manual operations. It removes grind lines, mill marks, and other surface imperfections without aggressive stock removal.
Designed for use on metal finishing belt tools that accept an 18-inch by 1/2-inch belt. Suitable for use on stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminum, and other common metal substrates.
Installation should be performed by a qualified metalworking or finishing technician following the tool manufacturer's belt-changing procedure. Ensure the belt grinder or finishing machine is fully de-energized and unplugged before changing the belt. Confirm proper belt tracking and tension before resuming operation. Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment including eye protection and gloves when operating abrasive belt equipment.
