The 3M 7100165433 is a non-insulated, seamless copper compression lug with a ring tongue termination, designed for making reliable electrical connections at the pre-stripped end of a stranded wire. The seamless barrel eliminates a seam-split failure point common in stamped lugs, providing a secure, consistent crimp. Tin plating on the copper body resists corrosion in demanding environments. Rated at 600 volts for building wire applications, this lug accepts a 3/8-inch stud size and is sold individually. UL Listed and RoHS 2011/65/EU compliant.
This ring tongue lug is used in commercial and industrial electrical work where a stranded wire must be terminated at a threaded stud, busbar, or equipment lug. Typical applications include panel board terminations, motor connections, and grounding assemblies. The non-insulated design is appropriate where insulation sleeving or heat shrink will be applied separately, or where the connection point is within an enclosed enclosure that meets code requirements. Licensed electricians and journeymen are the primary installers in both new construction and service work.
Designed as an OEM-style compression lug for stranded wire terminations requiring a 3/8-inch ring tongue connection in standard building wire installations rated to 600 volts.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with NEC requirements. De-energize and lock out the circuit before installing or replacing any lug termination. Use a calibrated compression crimping tool rated for the wire gauge and lug series being installed. Do not over-strip the wire conductor, as excess bare conductor beyond the barrel can create a shock or short-circuit hazard.
