The 3M 7100160250 is a 120-grit sanding screen designed for floor and surface finishing applications in trade and light commercial work. Built with a resin-bonded silicon carbide abrasive on an open-mesh screen backing, it cuts fast, resists loading, and allows dust to pass through during operation. At 20 inches in diameter, it mounts to standard rotary floor machines used by flooring contractors, restoration crews, and surface prep professionals. The fine 120-grit rating makes it suited for finish-stage sanding where surface smoothness matters before sealing or coating.
This sanding screen is used on concrete, marble, stone, wood, and urethane-finished floors. Typical applications include intercoat scuffing of urethane finishes, light stock removal on hardwood, and surface conditioning on stone or concrete prior to sealer application. The open-screen construction keeps the abrasive surface clear longer than closed-coat paper, extending usable life in dusty or resinous floor environments. Flooring contractors and surface prep crews are the primary installers for this type of consumable.
Designed for use with standard 20-inch rotary floor machines that accept screen-backed abrasive discs for surface prep and finish sanding.
Install and remove the screen with the floor machine fully powered off and unplugged. Center the screen on the drive pad before operation to prevent uneven wear or machine vibration. Follow the flooring material manufacturer's recommended grit sequence and application guidelines. Operators should wear appropriate dust protection per applicable safety standards when sanding in enclosed spaces.
