The 3M 7100145436 is a 5-inch hook and loop abrasive disc engineered for precision surface finishing on random orbital sanders. Part of the 3M 775L Series, this disc uses a ceramic abrasive coating on a film polyester backing, delivering consistent cut and long disc life compared to conventional aluminum oxide or silicon carbide abrasives. At 400 grit, it falls in the super fine grade range, making it the right choice for final material removal passes, seam blending, and prep work before topcoat application. The hook and loop attachment system allows fast disc changes without adhesive residue or downtime on the floor or bench.
This disc is suited for finishing operations on metal, composites, painted surfaces, and automotive body substrates where tight grit control and surface consistency matter. The 775L Series is a common choice for auto body technicians, metal fabricators, and industrial finishing trades working in environments that demand repeatable surface profiles at fine grits. The film polyester backing resists tearing and conforms well to slightly contoured work surfaces, maintaining consistent abrasive contact throughout the disc life.
Designed for use with random orbital sanders accepting 5-inch hook and loop discs. No vacuum hole pattern; verify tool configuration before use.
Attach the disc firmly to the hook and loop pad of the random orbital sander before powering the tool. Inspect the backing pad for worn hook material that could reduce disc retention at operating speed. Do not exceed the 12,000 RPM maximum disc rating. Disc should be replaced when abrasive performance degrades or backing shows signs of separation.
