The 3M 7100122806 is a coated abrasive finishing disc designed for final-stage paint correction and clear coat leveling in professional automotive body and refinishing applications. Built on a flexible, durable film backing, the 260L uses aluminum oxide abrasive to cut fast, resist loading, and leave a surface that polishes out cleanly. The updated coating formulation targets two of the most common complaints in finish sanding: swirl marks, commonly called pigtails, and premature disc wear. At 5 inches in diameter and P1500 grit, this disc is suited for fine finish work before compounding or polishing.
This disc is used in auto body shops, collision repair centers, and fleet refinishing operations where consistent, repeatable surface prep is required before clear coat or topcoat application. The Hookit attachment system allows technicians to swap discs quickly on compatible random orbital and dual-action sanders, reducing downtime during multi-stage finishing sequences. Multiple hole pattern configurations are available in the 260L line to support dust extraction setups commonly used in enclosed spray and prep areas.
Designed for use with Hookit-compatible random orbital and dual-action sanders accepting 5 inch abrasive discs.
This disc is installed and serviced by auto body technicians and surface prep specialists. Before mounting, confirm the backing pad is clean and free of debris that could cause uneven contact or premature disc failure. Attach firmly to the Hookit backing pad before powering on the tool. Always operate the sander at the speed range appropriate for finish film discs to avoid heat buildup and surface damage.
