The 3M 7100113117 is a Cubitron II Hookit abrasive cloth disc designed for fast, aggressive material removal on stainless steel, carbon steel, cobalt chrome, nickel alloys, and other exotic alloys. Built on an X-weight polyester-cotton cloth backing, the disc features 3M Precision Shaped Grain that shears material cleanly rather than grinding it, sustaining a sharp cutting edge throughout the disc life. A built-in grinding aid reduces heat buildup at the contact zone, protecting workpiece finish and extending disc life. Resin bonding material adds further heat resistance and helps prevent surface discoloration during high-pressure applications. The Hookit attachment system allows fast disc changes without tools.
This disc is suited for medium to high pressure grinding and finishing applications in fabrication shops, welding operations, and metalworking environments. The 3-inch diameter and 120 grit rating position it for intermediate stock removal and blending on tight contours, curved surfaces, and areas where larger discs cannot reach. It is typically used by metal fabricators, weld finishers, and aerospace or industrial maintenance technicians working with hard and exotic alloys that are sensitive to heat and surface contamination.
Designed for use on stainless steel, carbon steel, cobalt chrome, nickel alloys, and other exotic alloys. Compatible with Hookit-style random orbital and disc sanders accepting 3-inch abrasive discs rated for 15000 RPM or lower.
Mounting is tool-free via the Hookit hook-and-loop system — align the disc to the backing pad and press firmly to seat before operation. Verify the tool spindle speed does not exceed the 15000 RPM maximum disc rating before use. Inspect the disc and backing pad for wear or damage before each attachment. Always wear appropriate eye protection and respiratory protection when grinding stainless steel or exotic alloys, as generated particles and fumes require adequate ventilation per applicable shop safety standards.
