The 3M 7100100966 is a 3-inch coated abrasive fibre disc in the Roloc 787C series, built for high-speed grinding on hard-to-cut metals. It runs at up to 20000 RPM and uses 3M Precision Shaped Grain, a structured abrasive mineral that delivers faster cut rates and cooler surface temperatures compared to conventional fibre discs. A built-in grinding aid further reduces heat buildup, making this disc well suited for stainless steel and high nickel alloys where thermal damage is a real concern. Stiff fibre backing and a strong resin bond resist tearing under aggressive use. The Roloc quick-change attachment secures the disc to a compatible Roloc backing pad without tools.
This disc is intended for weld removal, weld blending, beveling, edge chamfering, and finish refinement on stainless steel, high nickel alloys, and similarly difficult ferrous and non-ferrous metals. It fits applications where a conventional fibre disc wears out too quickly or generates excessive heat. Typical users include fabricators, welders, and maintenance professionals working on structural steel, pipe, pressure vessels, and similar metal components. The 120 grit rating positions it for blending and surface refinement rather than heavy stock removal, though the Precision Shaped Grain still provides an aggressive cut for its grit designation.
Designed for use with Roloc-compatible backing pads on right-angle grinders rated to 20000 RPM or higher. Intended for grinding and blending on stainless steel and high nickel alloys.
Disc installation and removal require a Roloc-compatible backing pad — no hand tools needed for the quick-change attachment. Verify the grinder and backing pad are rated at or above the disc speed before mounting. Disconnect or de-energize the grinder before changing discs. Always wear appropriate PPE including eye protection and gloves when operating abrasive discs at elevated RPM.
