The 3M 7100087903 is a double-sided, pressure-sensitive, closed-cell acrylic foam tape designed for high-strength bonding across a wide range of surface energy levels. At 25 mil thick, this VHB tape conforms readily to irregular surfaces and delivers a durable, load-bearing bond without mechanical fasteners. The tape features a polyethylene film liner and bonds to high, medium, and medium-to-low surface energy substrates. It provides cushioning, vibration damping, and impact resistance in addition to adhesion. Fabricators, installers, and maintenance technicians in HVAC, electrical, construction, and general industrial applications use this tape as a structural bonding solution where rivets, screws, or welds are impractical.
This tape is suited for both indoor and outdoor applications where conformability and long-term adhesion are required. Common use cases include panel bonding, sign assembly, trim attachment, and sealing applications on metal, glass, painted surfaces, and select plastics. The black foam core provides light blockage and helps mask substrate color. At 0.25 inches wide and 36 yards per roll, each roll covers extended runs without splicing, making it practical for production-line or repeat service work.
Designed for bonding to high, medium, and medium-to-low surface energy substrates including metal, glass, painted surfaces, and select plastics. Verify surface preparation and minimum application temperature requirements before use.
Surface must be clean, dry, and free of oil, dust, and loose particles before application. Apply firm, even pressure across the tape length to achieve full contact and activate the adhesive. Allow adequate dwell time before loading the bond for best adhesion results. Remove the liner carefully to avoid stretching or contaminating the adhesive surface.
