The 3M 7100081718 is a hook and loop abrasive disc designed for precision grinding, finishing, and surface preparation on hard materials. Built on a flexible cloth backing with diamond abrasive, this disc delivers consistent stock removal on materials where conventional aluminum oxide or silicon carbide abrasives wear prematurely. At 1.5 inches in diameter and 120 grit (fine grade), it is well-suited for tight-radius work, deburring, and finish grinding where control and uniformity matter. The hook and loop attachment system allows fast disc changes without adhesive backing. No vacuum holes are included in this design.
This disc is used in applications requiring fine abrasive work on hard substrates such as ceramics, carbide tooling, glass, stone, or hardened steel. The 1.5-inch format fits small random orbital or rotary tools and is commonly used by machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and fabricators working on detailed or confined surfaces. The flexible cloth backing conforms to slightly contoured workpieces, reducing the risk of uneven material removal during finishing passes.

Mounting requires a compatible 1.5-inch hook and loop backup pad — verify pad diameter and hook density before use. Ensure the tool is powered off and unplugged before attaching or removing the disc. Align the disc flat against the pad face and press firmly to engage the hook and loop interface before starting the tool. Inspect the disc for tears or loaded abrasive before each use and replace when cutting performance degrades.
