The 3M 7100079086 Wetordry Sanding Sheets are silicon carbide abrasive sheets designed for wet or dry sanding applications in finishing and surface prep work. Each sheet measures 9 inches x 11 inches and carries a 120C grit rating, making them well-suited for sanding between coats of paint, varnish, lacquer, or other topcoats. Silicon carbide is a sharp, synthetic abrasive that cuts quickly and leaves a smooth surface. These sheets can be used with water to reduce loading and extend abrasive life, which is a practical advantage when working through multiple coats on a finish job. Trade painters, finish carpenters, and auto body technicians commonly keep these on hand for detail sanding and prep work.
These sheets are packaged in a Pro-Pak format and are appropriate for both residential and light commercial finishing work. Typical applications include between-coat sanding on wood trim, cabinetry, and furniture, as well as surface preparation for automotive refinishing. The wet sanding capability makes them especially useful when a slurry is needed to flush away swarf and keep the abrasive cutting cleanly. They work with sanding blocks or can be hand-held for contour work.
Designed as a general-purpose sanding sheet for use on painted, varnished, or otherwise finished surfaces where between-coat abrasion or surface leveling is required.
These sheets are installed by hand or with a sanding block — no power tool attachment required for standard use. When wet sanding, keep the work surface and sheet adequately wetted to maintain slurry flow and prevent loading. Always allow coatings to fully cure to the manufacturer-specified dry time before sanding between coats. Dispose of spent sheets in accordance with local regulations, particularly when sanding lead-containing or solvent-based finishes.
