The 3M 7100054377 is a Quick-Change Type R disc backing pad designed to hold and drive abrasive discs in angle grinder and die grinder applications. It operates at a maximum speed of 8,000 RPM and features a soft density construction that allows the abrasive disc to conform to contoured or irregular work surfaces. The Roloc TR quick-change compatibility means disc swaps require no tools and take only seconds, reducing downtime during grinding, blending, and finishing tasks. This backing pad is installed and used by metal fabricators, welders, HVAC sheet metal techs, and industrial maintenance professionals.
This backing pad is suited for use with Quick-Change Type R and Roloc TR abrasive discs in both shop and field environments. Typical applications include weld blending, surface preparation, deburring, and light material removal on sheet metal, structural steel, and fabricated components. The soft density backing is especially useful on curved or uneven surfaces where a rigid pad would not maintain consistent disc contact.

Installation is performed by threading or attaching the backing pad to the grinder spindle per the tool manufacturer's instructions. Always confirm the grinder's rated RPM meets or does not exceed the 8,000 RPM maximum before mounting. Power down and disconnect or de-energize the grinder before attaching or removing the backing pad. Inspect the pad for wear, cracking, or deformation before each use and replace if damaged.
