The 3M 7100049187 is a Scotch-Brite surface conditioning belt designed for detail finishing, blending, deburring, and surface preparation on a variety of metals. Measuring 20.5 inches in length and 0.75 inches in width, this belt features an aluminum oxide abrasive mineral bonded with resin to a nonwoven open-web backing. The nonwoven construction resists loading and reduces heat buildup during extended use, helping maintain consistent results across passes. It is sized for use in narrow-belt and detail finishing machines and is suited to tasks including flat finishing, contour finishing, stainless steel brushed finishes, and edge deburring.
This belt is intended for metalworking applications in both shop and production environments. It performs well on stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminum, and other metals where surface conditioning, grain-setting, or final finishing is required. The conformable nonwoven structure allows the abrasive to maintain contact with irregular and contoured surfaces, making it applicable to robotic processing lines as well as manual machine use. Typical users include fabricators, machinists, and maintenance technicians running narrow-belt finishing equipment.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit consumable for narrow-belt surface conditioning machines accepting 20.5-inch by 0.75-inch abrasive belts.
Installation should be performed by a qualified operator familiar with abrasive belt finishing equipment. Power down and de-energize the belt finishing machine before changing belts. Confirm belt tracking and tension per the machine manufacturer's guidelines before resuming operation. Inspect the contact wheel and platen for wear that could cause uneven belt loading or premature failure.
