The 3M 7100005959 is a black, 65 mil conformable rubber mastic tape engineered for electrical insulating and sealing applications. Built on an Ethylene Propylene Rubber (EPR) backing coated with a temperature-stable mastic adhesive, this self-fusing tape delivers a tight, void-free seal around irregular surfaces. It is rated for continuous operation up to 194 degrees F, making it suitable for demanding service environments. Electricians and electrical contractors reach for this tape when insulating and sealing bus bar connections, splices, and cable terminations where moisture intrusion and voltage stress are primary concerns.
This tape is used in commercial and industrial electrical work where conformable, high-build insulation is required. It is particularly well suited for splicing, padding, and sealing medium-voltage bus bar connections and cable splice joints. The self-fusing EPR construction conforms to irregular shapes and contours without air pockets, ensuring consistent insulation coverage across the entire splice area. Each roll measures 2 inches wide by 3 feet long and is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 48 rolls per case.
Designed as an OEM-style insulating and sealing solution for bus bar connections, cable splices, and electrical termination applications requiring conformable high-build rubber mastic insulation.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician following applicable NEC requirements. De-energize and lock out the circuit before applying tape to any splice or bus bar connection. Stretch the tape slightly during application to activate self-fusing and ensure full surface contact with no air gaps. Do not energize the circuit until the splice or termination is fully insulated and inspected per local code.
