The 3M 7010364686 Scotch-Brite Surface Conditioning Belt is a nonwoven abrasive belt designed for detail finishing work on metal surfaces. Built with an aluminum oxide grain bonded in a resin system and reinforced with a scrim backing, this belt handles blending, deburring, fine finishing, flat finishing, contour finishing, and straightline-brushed finish applications. The open web construction reduces heat buildup and loading during extended use, which helps maintain consistent surface results across high-cycle or robotic processing environments. It is used by metalworkers, fabricators, and finishing technicians working on production lines or bench-mounted belt sanders.
This belt is suited for surface conditioning tasks on a variety of metals, including stainless steel and other alloys requiring controlled, repeatable finishes. Common applications include removing grind lines, mill marks, and surface imperfections, as well as blending corners and setting the grain. The belt's conformability makes it effective on complex-shaped parts, contours, and edges where rigid abrasives lose contact. It is commonly used in both manual finishing setups and automated robotic processing systems.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit belt for belt sanders and finishing machines accepting a 77 inch by 1-3/4 inch belt configuration.
Installation should be performed by a qualified finishing technician or machinist familiar with abrasive belt equipment. Power down and lock out the belt sander or finishing machine before mounting or removing the belt. Verify belt tracking and tension according to the equipment manufacturer's guidelines before resuming operation. Inspect the belt for tears or edge damage prior to each use.
