The 3M 7010364323 Scotch-Brite Surface Conditioning Belt is a nonwoven abrasive belt designed for detail surface work on metal components. It uses aluminum oxide (AO) grain bonded with resin into an open-web nonwoven construction reinforced with a scrim backing. The belt measures 132 inches in length and 1 inch in width, making it suited for narrow-contact-wheel and file-belt machines. Weighing 0.5 pounds, it is a lightweight consumable used by metal fabricators, maintenance technicians, and production finishing operators for tasks including blending, deburring, and attaining consistent brushed or straight-line finishes.
This belt is intended for use on a variety of metals including stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminum, and other ferrous and non-ferrous surfaces. It is well suited to both flat and contoured workpieces, including parts with edges, corners, and complex profiles. The open-web nonwoven construction reduces loading and heat buildup, allowing for extended run time and repeatable surface conditioning results in both manual and robotic processing environments. Typical applications include blending weld seams, removing mill marks, setting grain, fine finishing, and cleaning surface imperfections in fabrication and production settings.
Designed as a replacement or production-supply belt for narrow-contact-wheel belt grinders and file-belt machines accepting a 132-inch by 1-inch belt. Verify machine contact wheel and platen specifications before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machine operator or metal finishing technician. Power down and lock out the belt grinder before changing belts in accordance with OSHA lockout/tagout requirements. Confirm belt tracking and tension per the machine manufacturer's guidelines before resuming operation. Wear appropriate PPE including eye protection and gloves when handling and operating abrasive belts.
