The 3M 7010328085 is a 6-inch hook-and-loop abrasive disc built for material removal and surface preparation on automotive and industrial substrates. It uses a ceramic aluminum oxide blend abrasive bonded to E-weight paper backing, giving the disc the stiffness needed for consistent stock removal across flat and contoured panels. The open coat construction reduces loading when working over fresh body filler, primer, or paint, extending disc life and maintaining cut rate throughout use. At 36 grit, this disc is suited for aggressive shaping and stripping passes rather than finish work.
This disc is designed for shaping plastic body filler and putty, removing paint down to bare metal, and refining deep scratches prior to finer grit progression. The Hookita hook-and-loop backing system allows fast disc swaps on compatible random orbital and disc sanders without tools, which improves workflow efficiency on production or collision repair applications. It is well suited for automotive body shops, metal fabrication, and industrial surface prep environments where consistent cut rate and low loading are priorities.
Designed for use with hook-and-loop random orbital and disc sanders that accept 6-inch abrasive discs. Some versions in the 255U series feature a 7- or 8-hole pattern for use with dust-extraction sanders.
Press the hook-and-loop backing firmly onto a clean, dry sander pad before use to ensure full contact and prevent disc slippage. Power down and disconnect the sander before changing discs. Inspect the sander backing pad regularly for worn hooks that can reduce disc retention. Follow applicable shop safety protocols including respiratory protection when sanding paint, filler, or coated metals.
