The 3M 7010300638 is a 320-grit performance sanding sponge engineered for hand sanding in automotive body repair applications. Built around a self-sharpening aluminum oxide mineral coating, the sponge resists clogging and maintains cutting performance throughout its work life. At 1 inch x 2.625 inches, it fits comfortably in the hand for controlled, consistent pressure. The sponge ships ready to use with no prep required. Automotive body technicians and refinishing professionals reach for this sponge when shaping glaze, spot putty, or primer during the finish preparation stages of a body repair job.
This sponge is specifically suited for Stage 3 and Stage 4 work in automotive body repair sequences. In Stage 3, it shapes and sands glaze or spot putty prior to primer application. In Stage 4, it sands applied primer before a finer grit, such as 400, is used to refine scratch patterns ahead of topcoat. The compact block format makes it easy to work curved panels, door edges, and confined repair areas where a flat sheet or block sander is impractical. Sold individually, with a minimum order quantity of 12 units.
Designed for use in Stage 3 and Stage 4 of the 3M Body Repair System for automotive refinishing. Appropriate for hand sanding glaze, spot putty, and primer surfaces during paint preparation.
This sponge is intended for hand sanding use only — do not attach to a random orbital or DA sander. Sand the repair area with this 320-grit sponge before applying primer, then use it again on cured primer prior to refining with 400-grit. Apply consistent, even hand pressure to avoid creating low spots in the repair area. Follow primer manufacturer recommendations for cure time before sanding.
