The 3M 7010300522 is Scotch Filament Tape 898, a clear polypropylene-backed tape reinforced with fiberglass yarn filaments and bonded with a synthetic rubber resin adhesive. It delivers 380 pounds per inch of tensile strength, making it well-suited for high-stress strapping, bundling, and reinforcing tasks. The fiberglass filament construction resists tearing and splitting under load, while the clear backing keeps bundled materials visible. Each roll measures 48 mm wide by 55 m long. Trades and facilities personnel working in shipping, packaging, and light fabrication environments rely on this tape where conventional pressure-sensitive tapes lack the tensile capacity needed.
Filament Tape 898 is used across residential and commercial applications wherever a strong, lightweight strapping solution is required. Typical scenarios include securing rolled goods, palletizing items without a strapping tool, reinforcing corrugated cartons, and bundling pipe, conduit, or lumber on the job site. HVAC, plumbing, and electrical contractors often keep a roll on hand for temporary bundling of pipe sticks, conduit runs, or wire spools during staging and delivery. The clear polypropylene film keeps labels and markings readable through the tape layer.
Designed as a general-purpose filament strapping tape compatible with standard tape dispensers and hand-application workflows across packaging, construction staging, and industrial bundling operations.
Apply to clean, dry surfaces free of dust, oil, or moisture for best adhesion. No tools are required for hand application, though a tape gun or dispenser improves consistency on high-volume runs. When using as a load-securing strap, ensure the tape is applied with consistent tension and overlapping passes for critical loads. Do not use as a primary structural fastener in place of rated tie-down or mechanical strapping systems.
