The 3M 7010299637 is a double coated open-cell urethane foam tape sold under the 4016 product line in an off-white finish. It features adhesive on both sides of a compressible foam core, allowing it to bond two surfaces together while simultaneously providing cushioning and vibration damping at the joint. The foam carrier measures 0.0625 inches thick and the roll is 0.25 inches wide by 36 yards long. The paper liner protects the second adhesive face during handling and is removed at installation. HVAC, electrical, and general mechanical tradespeople use this tape for gasketing, mounting, and surface-bonding applications where a rigid fastener is not practical.
This tape is suited for light-duty bonding in both residential and commercial settings. Common applications include sealing and cushioning gaps between panels, mounting nameplates or light components, and providing a compressible interface between mating surfaces in HVAC cabinet assemblies, electrical enclosures, and similar installations. The open-cell urethane foam conforms to irregular surfaces, helping fill minor gaps and create a consistent bond plane across the joint.
Designed as an OEM-style bonding and gasketing solution for use on clean, dry surfaces in HVAC, electrical, and general mechanical assemblies where a compressible double-faced foam tape is specified.
Surface preparation is critical for full adhesive performance — clean and dry both bonding surfaces before application. Remove the paper liner only at the moment of bond to avoid contamination of the exposed adhesive face. Apply firm, even pressure across the full tape length after joining surfaces to ensure complete contact. This tape is intended as a semi-permanent bonding solution; removal may damage soft or painted substrates.
