The 3M 7010299308 Scotch-Brite Surface Conditioning Belt is a nonwoven abrasive belt designed for detail finishing work on metals. Built on a reinforced scrim backing with an open-web nonwoven construction and aluminum oxide (AO) abrasive bonded with resin, this belt measures 72 inches long by 3/4 inch wide. It handles a wide range of surface conditioning tasks including blending, deburring, contour finishing, flat finishing, grain setting, and producing straightline-brushed finishes on stainless steel and other metal substrates. It weighs approximately 0.2 pounds. Licensed HVAC technicians, metal fabricators, and finishing professionals are the primary installers and users.
This belt is suited for both manual and robotic processing applications in fabrication shops, HVAC sheet metal work, stainless steel finishing, and general metalworking environments. The open-web structure reduces loading and heat buildup, making it effective for extended runs on contoured or flat workpieces. It is sold in a minimum quantity of 20 belts per order. Typical applications include removing grind lines, mill marks, and surface imperfections on ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
Designed as a replacement or stock belt for standard 72-inch by 3/4-inch belt finishing machines used in metal fabrication and surface conditioning applications.
Installation is performed by qualified fabrication or finishing technicians. Power down and lockout/tagout the belt finishing machine before changing belts. Confirm belt tracking and tension according to the machine manufacturer's guidelines before resuming operation. Inspect the belt for tears or separation at the splice joint prior to each use.
